Caracas, April 5 (RHC) – The Venezuelan Ministry of State announced that investigations are moving forward to establish the facts and punish those responsible for the deaths of four Yanomami tribes in the Amazon region.

Attorney General Tarek William Saab reported this Tuesday via his account on the social network Twitter that the appointed judges and the ministry are conducting joint proceedings with the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) to clarify the facts. .

He explained that the Prosecutor’s Office 91 of the Indigenous Judiciary is coordinating the process, along with those on human rights and the responsibility of juveniles and child and youth victims.

In this case, last March the lawmaker appointed the National Indigenous Prosecutor and the Human Rights Prosecutor to investigate, together with the CICPC, the complaint about the confrontation between indigenous Yanomami and military officials in Amazonas state.

The incident came weeks ago after a confrontation with members of Venezuela’s military aviation when officials refused to share internet access with residents of that community, killing four members of the Yanomami ethnic group.

From the moment the serious incident occurred, the Venezuelan judicial authorities gave assurances that the incident would be investigated and those responsible would be prosecuted, while civil society spoke out against what was happening and demanded justice. (Source:PL)
