The family of Rafael Puglisi and Diego Aguiar, an alleged friend of the “famous dentist,” were at odds on social media after Aguiar questioned the reasons for the dentist’s death. Puglisi died this Monday (18) in São Paulo and the civil police are investigating the case.
As the “Metrópoles” portal published, Aguiar stated on social media that the professional died of depression and not of a traumatic brain injury after hitting his head in the swimming pool. “They give the causes of death, but the real cause of death was depression. He had been unwell for some time, I tried to cheer him up, some friends also tried to lift him up,” the alleged friend reportedly said.
On social media, Leo Puglisi, 31, the dentist’s brother, said Aguiar was trying to come to terms with Rafael’s death. “As always, it happens. There are people who try to pass themselves off as friends and, unfortunately, desperately try to deal with completely distorted news. May God especially bless these sad people.”
On Monday (18), the family issued a statement confirming the death of Rafael Puglisi, explaining that he died during his morning swim. “We are sad! This morning Rafa went for his morning swim as usual, he was at home getting ready to go into his pool and take a dip like he does every day! But today God wanted this dive to be different “And Rafa ended up hitting his head! Doctors tried to resuscitate him, but unfortunately he arrived dead at the hospital,” the statement said.
In a statement, São Paulo civil police said they were investigating the death of Rafael Puglisi.

“A 35yearold dentist died this Monday (18) at around 8 a.m. in Alameda Malbec in Barueri after suffering an accident in the swimming pool of his apartment. Military police were called through Copom to investigate the incident and at the address provided they found the victim lying lifeless near his swimming pool.
The fire department was also called and was on site. Investigations were requested from the Legal Medical Institute and the Criminalistics Institute and the case was registered as a suspicious death at the 2nd DP of Barueri.”
