Raiders News: Derek Carr appears to be focused on picking the next team – Silver And Black Pride

NFL Network analyst David Carr made waves Monday when he expressed passionate thoughts about his brother Derek Carr.

What was notable about this segment, however, was that his older brother clarified that Derek Carr has no plans to retire and is already considering his next team. Of course, Derek Carr, 31, had said on numerous occasions he couldn’t see himself playing in any other uniform and would likely leave the NFL if he couldn’t play for the Raiders.

After being suddenly benched last week, Carr, who is absent from the team for the remainder of the season, is clearly still focused on the game.

This is good news for the Raiders as they will almost certainly look to trade Carr in exchange for draft capital. However, due to a deadline (his future has to be resolved three days after the Super Bowl), it’s not certain the Raiders can trade Carr. He has a no-trade clause that was included in the contract extension he signed last year. So if Carr doesn’t cooperate with the Raiders, they could be forced to release him. That might be a better way for Carr because he could get a jump free hand.

And from the tone of David Carr’s words, it doesn’t seem like Derek Carr is currently in the mood to help out the Raiders as he plans to look for a new home with “stability” in the owner and head coaching spots .

The next six weeks will be fascinating, but it’s clear we’ll see Carr in the NFL next season, just not in Silver and Black.
