The Remparts ended their streak against the Charlottetown Islanders on Wednesday night with a 5-1 win in Game 4. Patrick Roy’s men are now enjoying nine days off before starting their quarterfinal round and don’t immediately know who their next opponents will be becomes. What we do know is that it will either be Chicoutimi’s Saguenéens, or Rimouski’s Océanic, or Baie-Comeau’s Drakkar. We demystify everything for you.

… RIMOUSKI WHEN THE OCEANIC BEAT WINS THE SAGUENÉENS AND MONCTON VS BAIE-COMEAU.
Results of duels between the Two teams this season:
- October 8 | 4 to 2 win for the Remparts
- November 6 | 3 to 1 win for the Remparts
- November 18 | 5 to 0 victory for the Remparts
- January 20 | 5 to 2 win for the Remparts
- January 22 | 5 to 2 win for the Remparts
- February 16 | 5 to 3 victory for the Remparts
- March 24 | 4 to 2 win for the Remparts
- March 25 | 1 to 0 win for the Remparts
This is perhaps the most plausible scenario at the moment. The Océanic had taken a 3-0 lead in their run against the Sags before Yanick Jean’s men forced a fifth game with a 5-1 win on Wednesday. However, the series between Baie-Comeau and Moncton is tied 2-2 and the Drakkar have a chance to use the 2-3-2 format to take the lead at home before returning to Moncton for the sixth game and, if necessary, the Ultimate Encounter.
…CHICOUTIMI WHEN THE SAGUENÉENS COME BACK FROM BEHIND AGAINST THE OCEAN AND MONCTON WINS VS BAIE-COMEAU.
Results of duels between the two teams this season:
- September 23 | 1 to 0 win for the Remparts
- December 11 | 5 to 4 win for the Saguenéens (Fus.)
- November 3 | 3 to 1 win for the Remparts
- December 16 | 5 to 3 victory for the Remparts
- December 17 | Victory by 6 to 4 for the Remparts
- January 27 | 5 to 0 victory for the Remparts
- February 10 | Victory by 5 to 4 for the Saguenéens
- March 19 | 5 to 2 win for the Remparts
At the moment, it seems unlikely that the Saguenéens will be able to reverse the 3-0 deficit they have dug up against the Océanic, but never say never in this league! The last time a QMJHL team came from a 3-0 deficit to win the series was in 2015 when the Val-d’Or Foreurs faced Baie-Comeau Drakkar. If the “Sags” advance, they would face the Remparts in the playoffs for the second year in a row. Last year, the Red Devils swept three out of five against Chicoutimi in the first round of the series.
…BAIE-COMEAU WHEN THE DRAKKAR WINS OVER THE WILDCATS.
Results of the duels between the two teams this season :
- November 11 | 5 to 3 victory for the Remparts
- November 13 | Remparts win 2 to 1 (prol.)
- November 25 | 4 to 3 win for the Remparts
- December 28 | 9 to 0 victory for the Remparts
- December 29 | 5 to 3 victory for the Remparts
- January 18 | Victory by 11 to 2 of the Remparts
- February 8 | Victory by 6 to 3 for the Remparts
- March 7 | Victory by 6 to 3 for the Drakkar
The Drakkar had a great end to the season and they seem to be continuing that momentum into the playoffs so far as they give the Moncton Wildcats a tough time. The young Drakkar had some difficulties against the “Red Devils” in the regular season, most notably they were eliminated 9-0, 11-2, but they were not taken lightly as they defeated the Remparts in the last duel between them two teams this season.
