‘It was exciting to see someone black on TV’: Ranvir Singh breaks tears as she discusses the race and her career path for the upcoming programme
Ranvir Singh broke down in tears as she spoke about the impact of “watching someone black on TV” on Friday’s episode of Lorraine.
The presenter, 45, reflected on her own career and journey with Lorraine Kelly in the new trailer for upcoming program Becoming The Person I Wanted To See.
Speaking on the segment, Ranvir began: “It was always exciting to see someone black, even on TV, but they were always fleeting moments.”

She continued, “Everything I’ve done since has been, ‘You ignored me, so I’ll make sure you can never ignore me.’ It makes me very emotional because I don’t think about it very often.”
Ranvir, who is Good Morning’s political editor and fills in for Lorraine during the holidays, became visibly emotional as she recalled her early career aspirations.
In the clip, Lorraine added of her own journey: “I had never heard anyone on TV with my accent, even if you watch the new in Scotland.”
Reflecting: Speaking on the segment, Ranvir began: “It was always exciting to see someone black on TV, but they were always fleeting moments.”
“I vividly remember when I was working for BBC Scotland the big boss told me because of my accent that I would never make it on the air,” she explained.
Elsewhere on the show, Ranvir was let down when chaos broke out on Friday’s episode of Lorraine during a segment with the show’s fashion expert Mark Heyes and his adorable niece and nephew.
The clothing guru introduced Spencer and Molly to host Ranvir and the show’s viewers as they model children’s outfits during the festive special.

Mark, 45, tried to tell viewers what the kids were wearing but his young relatives had other ideas as they completely stole the show.
Little Molly clearly had better things to do as she wandered off camera while Mark started explaining what each of the kids was wearing.
Mark said, “Look who we have here! Spencer my angel. We have the gorgeous Spencer, this is my nephew and this is my beautiful niece Molly.”

Mark was soon distracted as Molly trotted off while Spencer sweetly called out, “I just wanted to say – Merry Christmas to my mommy and daddy.”
Ranvir couldn’t help but laugh as she watched the scene, adding: “Uncle Mark strikes again!”
In the background, Molly fell before being picked up by someone standing guard nearby.
Trying to clean up the mess, Mark ended his segment by telling viewers that Molly’s coat was £19 from M&Co.
