Vin Diesel and his friends met in Rome to present the brand new product rapids X, the first in a trilogy that marked the end of the franchise Fast and dangerous. Nostalgia and emotions at the rendezvous.
“Let me tell you the beginning. Paul and I were in Mexico before the first Fast and Furious even came out, we were sitting on the floor of an airport, our bags next to us, and we’d just taken part in an MTV show over spring break. People walked by without seeing us and Paul told me to take advantage of the anonymity because after the film came out that wouldn’t happen again.
“Paul believed in the success of the franchise. Every time we went to the premiere of one of the films anywhere in the world, we experienced a special moment where we both left the cinema without anyone else. And every time he whispered in my ear that the next one would be even better. And when we were discussing the possibility of a tenth film, he told me he’d like to do something special for the occasion, something we’d never done on screen before. “I saw the first movie as a fan, I grew up watching those movies, I studied cinema at The Fast and the Dangerous. From the franchise’s inception, all films have been shot locally and distributed internationally. As a director of this film, I have therefore had to pay tribute to all other feature films to date,” said filmmaker Louis Leterrier during the Rapides X launch press conference held in Rome last week.
“I want audiences to appreciate the actors, each one more exceptional than the last,” explained Vin Diesel when asked what he wanted moviegoers to think of the first installment in the latest adventures of the great Toretto family. Everyone who’s here with me has contributed so much to the franchise.”
“From day one of shooting, we told ourselves daily it was a miracle we were making the tenth film in the series. There were so many great moments that I can’t pick one that stands out more than the other. All the actors, craftsmen and people from the studios contributed to this. Everything is therefore emotional, and that’s what takes Rapides X to a new level for me. And I hope that the public will be affected in the same way,” he continued.
And Helen Mirren has revealed that she begged Vin Diesel to give her a role in the feature film series, which surprisingly he accepted and cast her as Jason Statham’s mother.
“Family is mentioned a lot when talking about Fast and Furious, and that’s true.” Look at us, we’re an odd, dysfunctional, but loving family. And what brings us together is love. The love for our job, the love for the cinema, the love for our fellow actors. What Vin Diesel has created is exceptional and I’m not only happy to be part of this group, I’m extremely proud,” said the 77-year-old Briton.

“I must have said I want to see a stunt performer category at the Oscars. These are people who risk their lives to support us and many have died as a result. And we don’t send enough love to the stuntmen who give us quite a show,” said Michelle Rodriguez to applause from the film’s other actors.
“What I like most about these fight scenes is the choreography. As an actress, I’m lucky enough to be able to perform them. Then I’m lucky enough to have stunt doubles attached to ropes that fly through the air. I admit it’s very cool. I feel at home fighting on set.”

Even Jordana Brewster, Vin Diesel’s sister in this saga, lashes out, an aspect the actress was pleased about during her speech during the press conference in Rome.
“Like Michelle, I loved the choreography. It’s like a dance that we repeat for days and finally have the opportunity to admire the day of the shoot. I had the chance to shoot my fight scenes with the best, John Cena helped me and gave me advice and allowed me to include elements of humor as well as tongue in cheek for the public,” she said.
Rapides X has been in most cinemas since Friday.
