The Miami-Dade Police Department is still looking for the shooter who shot and killed aspiring rapper Baby Chino.
The ambush comes minutes after 20-year-old Baby Chino (born Timothy Starks) was released from the Turner Gilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Florida after being arrested on weapons charges, the Miami Herald reported.
The police are still gathering information, but it looks like someone drove up to the car Starks was riding in and fired at least 40 shots, in which Starks was killed and wounded by his friend, who had just picked him up in prison.
Killed in broad daylight: 20-year-old Baby Chino (born Timothy Starks) was shot and killed in a highway ambush just seconds after he posted bail on gun charges and left the Turner Gilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami, Florida.
Starks was released from jail Wednesday afternoon after posting bail. The day before, he was arrested for allegedly illegal possession of a concealed weapon.
By the time his friend, Dante Collins Banks, drove to pick him up in a red Nissan outside the prison, Starks was still wearing the prisoner’s bracelet.
The shooting occurred moments later when Starks’ car swerved onto the Palmetto Expressway, causing the driver to crash into a wall at the ramp.
Starks is believed to have received multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head, and died at the scene.
Banks, the driver of the Nissan, was shot in the stomach, after which he was treated at a local hospital and released.

Banks’ mother not only confirmed to WSVN that her son had picked Starks up in jail, but also said she was on the phone with her son when the shots rang out.
“My son was fine,” she said, adding, “He was talking. He was just shocked because his friend had been shot.
On Wednesday, the investigation closed all lanes to the north for several hours to give officers time to try to collect evidence and collect many shell casings on the ground.
Detectives are looking for “a dark-colored vehicle that was seen leaving the area at high speed” and looking into whether the shooting is related to previous incidents and a possible link to street gangs.
According to a Miami Herald source known for his song Big Haiti Shottas, Starks is reportedly connected to the Boss Life gang in Little Haiti.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or recalled any information, no matter how small, to call Miami-Dade Crime Squad at 305-471-TIPS. Any potential witnesses may remain anonymous.
