The British auction house Henry Aldridge & Son estimates that this object could find a buyer for more than 118,000 US dollars.

The menu has water stains and some words have their letters erased, The Guardian reports.

According to auction director Andrew Aldridge, this may be the only menu that survived the demise.

“I spoke to several museums around the world and collectors,” he says. I can’t find another one anywhere.”

Other auction items include a blanket with the White Star Line logo and a pocket watch that belonged to a Russian immigrant who traveled in second class on the Titanic.

The time on the clock corresponds to the moment the man would have sunk into the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

According to Harry Bennet, professor of maritime history at the University of Plymouth, the items found on the bodies of shipwreck victims raise ethical questions.

“It would probably be better if these objects were found in museums,” he said in an interview with The New York Times. It would help to put them into context without profit being the focus.”
