(CNN Spanish) – Rauw Alejandro spoke for the first time about his romantic breakup with Rosalía, describing their relationship as “positive” and without “anything toxic.” In an interview posted on YouTube on Chente Ydrach's channel, the singer said he was having “a strong summer” when news of their split spread.
“Our relationship was a very positive relationship. Nothing toxic. Very nice,” he said. Additionally, he expressed his frustration after learning about the infidelity rumors that surfaced after the breakup.
“We lasted like that for four years and as if nothing ever happened, no negative news ever came out, about infidelity or anything like that. And.” When our news (the breakup) came out – which none of us wanted – (the media) said it in a way that gave rise to speculation. And the day after that, 30 messages came out,” he said.
“Of course, yes, I was a little frustrated because it's the life of the artist, the life of show business. But there is also private life. People also have a hard time separating Rauw Alejandro from Raúl. It was a strange summer, “It was a strong summer,” the artist added.
Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro had a romantic relationship for about three years. In March 2023 they announced their engagement through their first joint video “Beso”. Some time later, they presented a three-song EP – one for each year of their relationship – entitled “RR”.
At the end of July 2023, Spanish People magazine exclusively reported the end of the relationship, citing sources.
Shortly afterwards, Rauw Alejandro confirmed the news through a message published on his Instagram Stories, in which he assured that the end of his engagement with the Spanish singer was not due to “infidelity” or “because of third parties”.
“Yes, a few months ago Rosi and I ended our engagement. There are thousands of problems that can lead to a breakup, but in our case it was not the fault of a third party or infidelity,” wrote Rauw Alejandro in July 2023.
For her part, Rosalía wrote on her Instagram account: “I love, respect and admire Raúl very much. Not even the films, we know what we experienced.”
