Ravens Defense ends the day

Ravens fans have seen this scenario countless times. The defense is on the field and has to keep the opponent out of the end zone in the final minutes to end the game.

Head coach John Harbaugh set up this scenario at the end of Sunday practice and the first, second and third team defenses all won.

The first-team defense ended it with a fourth sack from Calais Campbell and Odafe Oweh. The second-team defense won with an interception by experienced cornerback Daryl Worley. The third-team defense won with a back-to-back pick from undrafted rookie linebacker Zakoby McClain. After that, he was besieged by the entire defense.

Here are more observations from Sunday’s padded workout, which took place for the second day in a row in cooler temperatures:

  • Cornerback Brandon Stephens returned to the 11-on-11 drills after only doing solo work on Saturday. Tight end Nick Boyle also trained again. Defensive tackle Justin Madubuike (migraine) was missing, among others.
  • While the offensive didn’t find success in the endgame situation, it did find success in previous red zone drills. Lamar Jackson scored a touchdown for Binjimen Victor in the back of the end zone, Rashod Bateman scored with a quick slant, Jackson’s side armed Boyle with a hit and Mark Andrews pulled a hard grab into the front corner of the end zone with Marlon Humphrey close in the heels.
