The second day of the RBD in Engenhão offers a packed show and even more confusion at the end of the event
Despite increased police operations around Engenhão, in the north zone of Rio, criminals managed to carry out several raids on their way out to the second day of the Mexican band RBD’s show, which took place on Friday evening (10).
Military police said in a statement that they were not called about these incidents during the event. But reporter Victória Henrique, who was present at the presentation, said that after the show she witnessed a robbery at Méier station and called the military police and SuperVia agents but received no response.
“A man started approaching people at Méier train station with a simulated firearm and a machete. He took some cell phones and a passenger’s belongings. “We pressed the emergency button on the train and contacted the police, but nothing was done,” he reported live on RJ1.
Reporter Anna Beatriz Lourenço, who was on the robbed train with Victória, said she only saw police reinforcements in some parts of Engenhão, but the rest of the public transport route remained uncovered. She also witnessed the crime and said the moment was one of frenzy and fear for the passengers.
“The police were only at the exit of the stadium, only in very close places. Everything at the stations was empty. When the thief approached one passenger, everyone else ran away. There was a race, a race, people fell on each other, some even got injured,” he said.
A fan of the band also said that she felt unsafe on the way home and that she felt that the police system was not adequate for the size of the expected audience.
“It was very crowded, a lot of people together… There were even police, but the number of police did not correspond to the number of people. For many people it felt like a small police force. She [os criminosos] They grabbed people’s cell phones and then ran away,” he said.
In a statement, the company said that the commander of the 3rd BPM (Méier) in charge of the area adjusted the scheme and distribution of police officers around the mess so that the agents could concentrate where the raids took place, and so the raids could prevent a scene that does not repeat itself. .
According to viewers, the screen stopped at the beginning of the first song. The band members didn’t even have the opportunity to use the microphone. Some fans reported that the lights were out in the stadium.
