Since its mysterious two-day search of an ordinary house in a residential area of Vaudreuil last week, the RCMP has remained discreet in its comments on the investigation. The police said only that it was an investigation related to national security.

The RCMP also stated that at that point a man had been arrested, interrogated and then released without charge.

Successful operation

However, in an internal statement obtained by Le Journal, Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers welcomed the strike by the Integrated National Security Team. “Successful conduct of our search made it possible to neutralize an arms dealer,” the note reads.

It also states that the search took place at a “firearms and ammunition depot” without giving details of the quantities seized.

However, other information obtained by Le Journal reports forty firearms, numerous magazines and thousands of ammunition seized in this search. “Our rapid intervention has certainly made it possible to limit the danger associated with such criminal operations,” writes the RCMP in the internal update.

Pan-Canadian Police expect the operation to be successful with serious charges being brought to court in the coming weeks.

In comment, the RCMP highlights the “time of great concern” linked to the numerous shootings in the Montreal area and announces the publication of a press release to share “this new achievement”.

long search

Last Wednesday afternoon, several police officers, including the tactical intervention group, broke into an apartment building on Aquin Avenue in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The search lasted until the following evening.

One person was arrested and later released without charge. The owner of the ranched apartment, a 59-year-old man with no criminal record, owns a construction company whose business address was in the apartment.

His wife had the opportunity to go to his home on the second day of the search to take a small bag containing personal belongings. The RCMP declined to comment further on the matter as it is still under investigation.
