In Renascer, José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão) will pursue Maria Santa (Duda Santos) after falling in love with Renascer at the Bumba Meu Boi party. She will be alone and do laundry in the river before she decides to take off her clothes to take a bath. At that moment the little colonel will arrive and see them. The young woman will almost gasp, but he will be respectful and turn his back to her so she can get out of the water and put her clothes back on.
The sequence with the halfnaked young woman in the waterfall is preceded by extremely romantic scenes in Globo's nine o'clock soap opera. In the script, author Bruno Luperi suggests that the two will kiss “like never before.” It is precisely because of him that the young woman will think that she has become pregnant and will end up being left at the door of the Jacutinga brothel (Juliana Paes).
The character played by Humberto Carrão in the first phase is driven away in the water by the girl who covers her private parts with her hands. “Calm down… I didn't want to see you… I mean, not under these circumstances… I just… I came to talk to Venâncio [Fabio Lago]” he will say. “Go away! Go… hurt yourself!” the girl will say, feeling vulnerable.
He then turns away from the waterfall and tells her she can get dressed. “Calm down… I won't see anything,” he will explain as she screams for him not to turn around to spy on her. “Go! Otherwise I’ll scream!” threatens Santinha. “There is no need to scream, I wish you no harm. We haven't even properly introduced ourselves… José Inocêncio, your servant,” the little colonel will politely explain.
He will greet her and she will return the gesture. Intrigued, he will kiss the back of your hand. The girl played by Duda Santos is overwhelmed by sensations of which she is not aware, such as trembling legs. She will hesitate and ask him to leave again. “I will. But first just tell me: Why?” the little colonel will ask.
“Because my mother said so!” the girl will scream. She starts picking up the bowl of water and the washed clothes, shivering from the cold. He will take a blanket and cover her. In this movement they will be close to each other. Santinha will tell him that his father is not there and that he has to go or he will be dead.
“Then my life was worth it… Because I saw you again!”, José Inocêncio will say, completely melted, before embarking on the kiss that will close this Wednesday's chapter (24).
Renascer was created by Benedito Ruy Barbosa and the adaptation of the rural saga is by the author's grandson, Bruno Luperi. The remake is expected to air in prime time on Globo by September this year.
