Recap: Caitlin Clark, Iowa women's basketball tops Wisconsin-Hawk Central with another big Big Ten win

No. 2 Iowa women's basketball looked good, handily beating the visiting Wisconsin Badgers at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes (18-1, 7-0 Big Ten) dominated 96-50, with Caitlin Clark making history by passing Brittney Griner to move into fourth place on the NCAA women's basketball all-time scoring list.

Iowa will be without starter Hannah Stuelke tonight due to a lower-body injury, but that didn't matter as the team performed exceptionally well on both ends of the court.

GAME STORY: No. 2 Iowa women's basketball team defeats Wisconsin for the 29th straight time

FINAL: Iowa 96, Wisconsin 50

After a tough and close first quarter, Iowa dominated every facet of the game and won the final three quarters 77-35.

All but one of the 12 participating Hawkeyes scored, and the team shot 47.5% from the field and made 15 three-pointers for the second straight game.

Iowa was also strong on defense with 17 steals, forced 28 turnovers and held Wisconsin to 31.5% shooting.

Q4/4:20 Iowa 86, Wisconsin 46

Wisconsin point guard Porter was fouled out of the game.

Their absences seemed to have an impact on the Badgers throughout, especially with their passing, as they had 24 turnovers so far.

Iowa took advantage of these additional opportunities, particularly by finding open players in transition. The Hawkeyes are 15 of 33 from behind the arc, setting a season high in 3-pointers made.

Clark sat on the bench for probably the last time with 32 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

End 3: Iowa 76, Wisconsin 44

The game was going so well for the Hawkeyes that as time expired, Clark, on a quick counterattack, hit a pass to Martin that hit her in the face and bounced right to a cutting Affolter for a last-second layup.

Iowa not only made up a lot of ground in the rebound duel (27:27) in this quarter, the team's passing game was also a strength. Nineteen of the Hawkeyes' 22 shots made came from an assist, and they only committed 10 turnovers.

Q3/1:17 Iowa 72, Wisconsin 44

Porter, Wisconsin's point guard, missed most of the frame after her fourth foul.

The Badgers were led all night by Williams, who was in control with 19 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.

Still, Clark gave the high-scoring Hawkeyes another big lead in the second half with her 47th 30-point game of her career. Martin (16 points, four 3s) and Sydney Affolter (10 points off the bench) were also crucial.

Q3/4:33 Iowa 59, Wisconsin 42

Clark made three straight triples to start the second half, undoing a revitalized Badgers squad that appears determined to keep fighting. She is up to 28 points on 6-for-12 shooting from distance.

Both teams scored high early in the third quarter, with Iowa winning the frame 13-12 so far.

End 2: Iowa 56, Wisconsin 30

Iowa won the turnover battle 15-7, Martin scored 11 points and Clark had 19 points, largely due to an 8-for-8 performance at the free throw line. That total already equals her most free throw attempts in a game since November 24th.

Iowa is 8 of 17 from 3, while Wisconsin has made just three 3-pointers and is shooting 37.9% from the field overall. Williams was the only Badger to be a consistent threat, scoring 15 points through physical inside play to take advantage of Iowa's zone defense.

Q2/0:43 Iowa 46, Wisconsin 28

While both teams looked unsettled in the first quarter, Iowa quickly regained its run-and-gun identity in the second frame.

Through productive outside shooting, running in transition and forcing Wisconsin to play out of its element, the Hawkeyes are in control.

Q2/4:06 Iowa 34, Wisconsin 19

Even more dramatically than in the team's last game against Indiana, Iowa's ability to force turnovers (13 already for Wisconsin) has resulted in its opponent's inability to keep up with the team's fast-paced offense.

The Hawkeyes opened the quarter with a 15-2 run.

Q2/6:07 Iowa 29, Wisconsin 17

A 10-2 Iowa run, capped by a logo 3-pointer from Clark, forced Wisconsin into a timeout.

The extremely physical style of play in this first half led to ugly periods on both sides, but the Hawkeyes' long-range shooting (5 of 10) was the deciding factor.

Clark is up to 14 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Caitlin Clark overtakes Brittney Griner

After two early free throws and a hard foul that sent Clark back to the line shaking her left arm, Clark passed Brittney Griner for fourth place on the all-time NCAA women's basketball points list (3,283).

The third-leading scorer of all time is Missouri State's Jackie Stiles (3,393), who Clark will likely pass in her next few games.

End 1: Iowa 19, Wisconsin 15

Kate Martin is 2-on-2 behind the arc, which kept the Hawkeyes' cold shooting offense afloat before Clark got going.

Clark began the game shooting 0-for-4 before making her final two attempts. She enters the second quarter just three points away from becoming the NCAA's fourth-leading basketball scorer of all time.

Both sides also played sloppily with a total of 12 ball losses.

Caitlin Clark threads the needle

To get the highlights started early, Clark executed a behind-the-back bounce pass between two Badger defenders to hit a rolling Addison O'Grady for a layup.

Q1/5:03 Iowa 9, Wisconsin 11

The Badgers took a 6-0 lead before Molly Davis, who scored a career-high 18 points in the final game, broke the ice for the Hawkeyes.

Iowa then took the lead with a 7-0 run before Wisconsin scored three straight.
