Eleven months before the scheduled reopening of Paris' Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was badly damaged by fire, the roof structure has been completed.

French President Emmanuel Macron shared photos of the beams on Platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday and wrote about France's pride. The last bolts of the roof structure were placed on Friday, as the Établissement Public responsible for the reconstruction announced on Facebook.

The cathedral was badly damaged by a devastating fire in spring 2019. The inferno in the heart of the French capital caused international shock. At the time, President Macron promised reconstruction within five years. The church is scheduled to reopen on December 8, 2024.
