Since the January Golden Globe was not an event, the Screen Actors Guild Awards will be the first major, television, personal awards show in Hollywood this year.
Although the Oscars do not require vaccination for presenters (attendees only), it is mandatory for the SAG Awards, which are voted on by the SAG-AFTRA Hollywood Actors Guild. One actor in the Paramount Yellowstone series, Forry Jay Smith, said he would not attend because he had not been vaccinated.
A star group of nominees – including Will Smith, Lady Gaga, Denzel Washington, Nicole Kidman and Ben Affleck – will make sure the SAG award stays brilliant.
Jada Pinkett Smith showed off the amazing dress and jewelry she wore to the ceremony at which her husband Will was nominated for his performance at King Richard’s.
Her dramatic two-tone dress had a high collar and a voluminous skirt, and the sparkling necklace served as a collar.

Five films have been nominated for SAG Awards, Best Ensemble: Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, Sian Heather’s Adult Drama CODA, Adam McKay’s Apocalyptic Comedy Don’t Look Up, Ridley Scott’s Gucci House and Reynaldo Marcus The Family tennis drama by Green King Richard.
The main Oscar nominee, Jane Campion’s “The Power of the Dog”, failed to win nominations for Best Ensemble, but three of its actors – Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst and Cody Smith-McPhee – are for individual awards.
Winning the best ensemble does not automatically make a film a favorite at the Oscars, but actors have the greatest influence because they make up the largest percentage of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Last year, the actors chose the drama in the courtroom of Aaron Sorkin from the 60s of last century, “The Chicago 7 Trial”, and the best picture of the Oscars was for “Nomadland”. A year earlier, the choice of SAG for Parasite foreshadowed the Oscar winner.
“On the way to @sagawards”: Vanessa Hudgens shone brightly in her chosen outfit, while her dog Darla joined the action for a candid photo at the hotel, where she made her glamorous makeover
In the TV categories, Ted Lasso of Apple TV + ranks with five leading nominations, followed by HBO’s Succession, Apple’s Morning Show and the much-watched Netflix Squid Game – all for four awards.
Fran Drescher, the newly appointed president of SAG-AFTRA, said last month: “After such a long time apart, we are excited to be together again this year at the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.”
The awards are presented by the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
Founded in 1952, the awards recognize outstanding performances in films and television shows.
