Regensburg: Victim of knife attack likely accidental | .at OÖ

A spokesman for the General Public Prosecutor’s Office (GenStA) in Munich said this on Monday evening. The 63-year-old man is a teacher who was staying at the facility as part of his teaching duties.

According to the findings, the 14-year-old patient at the district hospital (BKH) attacked a seven-year-old child and a 63-year-old child on Thursday. A 27-year-old nurse detained the attacker and was also injured. The child died on Friday. Central questions include where the fatal attack actually occurred, how the accused obtained a knife and whether there were accomplices or supporters before the crime, he said.

Given that law enforcement authorities cannot completely exclude the existence of an extremist background, the GenStA Central Office for Combating Extremism and Terrorism took over the investigation. The defendant used relevant chat groups on messaging services and, as a minor offender, was heavily involved in the planning and execution of the most serious acts of violence.

The 14-year-old was probably not entirely responsible for the crime. He was monitored at the district hospital with an ankle bracelet. After the crime, he was again admitted to a psychiatric hospital based on a court order that kept him in custody.
