The actress Regina Duartand the 76yearold says she was rejected when she tried to return to the stage after serving as culture minister in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL). In addition, Duarte complains about the alleged neglect of the former president, who continued to support him even after he left office.
“I tried to do theater last year, but the two texts I chose were not approved by the writers. They didn’t want to get involved with me for their own reasons, which I completely understand. That’s how I was all last year, a little in limbo, and at the beginning of this year the angel threw a few leaves at me,” she said in an interview with the website UOL, published this Friday 3rd.
Nevertheless, in her opinion, Bolsonaro’s invitation to take over the department was irresistible, even if he knew little about politics. “It was scary, but it helped me grow. Today I can better protect the naive country girl I really want to play. I was windowed, that word just came to me and I don’t regret it. “On the contrary, it did me a lot of good,” he added.
Regina Duarte held the position for three months until she was fired by Bolsonaro. After his resignation, the former president announced that Regina would take command of the Cinemateca Brasileira, but the appointment never materialized.
