Does Valve Sequel have fever? Following the announcement of the arrival of Counter-Strike 2 – a piece of news that sent CS:GO attendance skyrocketing – and while many fans are still hoping for a hypothetical Half-Life 3, another franchise cult publisher stood Spotlight: Left 4 Dead.

It only took two titles, released in quick succession in 2008 and 2009, to get the license cooperative first-person shooter achieves legendary status. Terribly addictive, the principle of the title is to survive, with up to 4 players simultaneously, a horde of zombies called “infected” (nothing to do with those of The Last of Us).

So what does this third episode have in store for us? This article presents all the elements that allow us to think that a Left 4 dead 3 will arrive soon.

Left 4 Dead 3 Release Date

Players have been hoping for the return of the co-op saga for a very long time as it’s been over 10 years since the latest expansion for Left 4 Dead 2. In the absence of any formalization, it’s impossible for us to speculate on a release date for Left 4 Dead 3.

However, several indications make us optimistic. This isn’t a fan-made trailer, but a more concrete element: the direct mention of “left4dead3” in Counter-Strike 2’s source code.

What is very interesting is that this reveal on Twitter by @gabefollower, who defines himself as a leaker of Valve gaming news, is part of the movement of Steam Data Changes which allowed many players to almost formalize Counter-Strike 2 a week before the publisher’s announcement.

If that single mention isn’t enough to set “Left 4 Dead is back” in stone, it’s still very encouraging, especially given the overhaul of its physics engine – the source 2used in Counter-Strike 2 with impressive improvements – Valve can double its creativity.

Anyhow, when the publisher announces the game (hopefully), the release shouldn’t be very far as Counter-Strike 2 will come out just 6 months after its official release.

Left 4 Dead 3: news and gameplay

How can it be possible to innovate a formula that already works so well? That’s the immense challenge facing developers at Valve, as the system that’s been in place since the first Left 4 Dead has wowed players from the start.

So the basic principle should not change an iota: You play as a member of a group of 4 survivors and your goal is to reach a checkpoint by resisting the attacks of the infected. In order to survive, you have no choice but to rely on cooperation, because the multitude of enemies is too impressive to keep without organization.

As in previous games of the license, The 4 surviving characters will have their own look and personalitybut they will all have the same abilities.

Left 4 Dead 3 game modes

Apart from the main campaign (which will surely be enriched in future expansions), the cooperative title should offer all the game modes present in the first two games. The very popular against modewho faces off against two teams of survivors and infected will of course be there as well survival modewhose principle is to resist a horde of infected on a closed map for as long as possible.

The modes were introduced in Left 4 Dead 2 collection (a variation of versus mode which consists of emptying as many gas cans as possible before a time limit expires), realism (a variant of the campaign mode that makes the game significantly more difficult) and mutation (with weekly rule changes) should also return.

After such a long wait, we should see other, even more competitive, game modes flourish.

Left 4 dead 3 guns

Again, there should be no revolution. We should therefore find two types of main weapons:

  • THE Basic Weapons (T1), that’s the Uzi and the shotgun. They are available under all circumstances.
  • THE Advanced Weapons (T2)these are the Benelli M4 shotgun, the M16A2 assault rifle and the Ruger Mini-14 sniper rifle.

Support is provided by an arsenal consisting of a pistol, melee weapons (axe, machete, crowbar, etc.), thrown weapons (homemade bombs, Molotov cocktails), and environmental weapons.
