This was announced by the studio Warner Bros. in this press release sent to the media on Wednesday morning:

“Over the past few weeks, you've seen the cast and crew of Dune: Part II reach out to fans around the world. Timothée was really looking forward to coming to Montreal to celebrate with all the film fans and Dune fans, but unfortunately he is just as sick as some of the other actors in the film. You will therefore not be able to join Denis [Villeneuve] for the special screening of the film this evening [mercredi] to Montreal. Timothée is very disappointed to have missed this event and sends you his best thoughts for this special evening.

“Denis will be there and is still looking forward to taking audiences back to Arrakis and showing why Dune: Part II is a must-see and experience on the big screen.”

The Canadian premiere of Dune: Part II takes place on Wednesday evening at the Scotiabank Cineplex Odéon. The film opens on Thursday evening.
