Globo unveiled this Thursday (19) the first images of the remake of Renascer during UpFront 2024, an event dedicated to the advertising market. Humberto Carrão appeared as the protagonist José Inocêncio in the series by Bruno Luperi presented as a “reinterpretation” of the original work by Benedito Ruy Barbosa.

The video also brought Juan Paiva, who will play one of the protagonist’s children, to one of the cocoa farms. The team and cast are in the interior of Bahia to record the first chapters, which will revolve around a ritual. The premiere is expected to take place in January.

In the story, José Inocêncio plunges a machete into a Jequitibárei to ensure him a long life. “As long as my machete is at your feet, neither you nor I will die. Neither a killed death nor a dead death,” he says.

Carrão will hand over the baton in the second phase to Marcos Palmeira, who also played the protagonist in the remake of Pantanal (2022).

The story is set in the present day and updates the story that was first shown 31 years ago. “Renascer penetrates a deeper Brazil in a more powerful way,” adds Luperi, who goes even further:

Just like Pantanal, they are epic, timeless works that are anchored in the emotional memory of audiences and television. Now we have the opportunity to bring it into the present day. Because time writes with us. And values have been significantly redefined in the last 30 years.

The cast also includes Duda Santos, Renan Monteiro, Marcello Melo Jr., Rodrigo Simas, Theresa Fonseca, Antonio Calloni, Vladimir Brichta, Juliana Paes, Irandhir Santos, Matheus Nachtergaele and Maria Fernanda Cândido.
