A recall notice was issued Thursday for two brands of cheese sold in Quebec and Ontario.
Le Fromage au Village and La Vache à Maillotte brands of semi-hard and soft cheeses may be contaminated with the bacterium Listeria, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said.
“The recalled products were sold online in Ontario, Quebec and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories,” the federal agency added.
Although contaminated products show no visible spoilage, they can make you ill if eaten.
“Possible symptoms include: vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and stiff neck,” the CFIA said, noting that pregnant women, the elderly and those who are immunocompromised are most at risk.
“The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation that may result in the recall of other products,” the CFIA also noted.
Here is the list of products affected by this recall:
– Le Fromage au Village, Angelus – Surface-ripened soft cheese, approx. 200g
