Remparts: Antoine Dorion keeps his promises

Quebec Remparts forward Antoine Dorion promised earlier this week that he would do “damage” on the power play.

On Wednesday evening, he scored his team’s first goal in this situation and also scored the winning goal in overtime against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. The “Red Devils” defeated their opponents 4 to 3.

If the Remparts started the game “on their heels,” according to head coach Éric Veilleux, they were able to take advantage of their power play opportunities to come from behind twice.

In the first period, Dorion tied the game at 1-1 on a double power play. In the third round it was Carl-Anthony Massé’s turn to do the same with the man advantage.

“The first few weekends the power play didn’t produce a goal, and our coach told us that was the difference. Today it really helped,” remarked the son of Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion, who was also named the game’s second star.

“We have to start better and try not to always be left behind. What I remember is the numerical advantage. “It wasn’t perfect, but we practiced it this week and the difference in a hockey game is often the special teams,” Veilleux said.

Barely more than a minute after the game’s second equalizer, Quebec took the lead, but the Armada had not yet said its final word. Less than five minutes before the end of regular time, Xavier Sarrasin surprised goalkeeper Quentin Miller with a one-timer and forced overtime.

Disappointment with the Armada

For Armada head coach Mathieu Turcotte, this equalizer was proof that his team had been absent “in recent games”.

“That’s a bit of what we were missing in the last few games. We demonstrated it today. “It’s all the more disappointing to have given up the game and not gone to the shootout,” he said in front of the locker room.

Turcotte also argued that it was the more experienced players in his training “who make careless mistakes.”

“We had a lot of time with the puck in overtime. We could have made a play and decided to clear the puck. It took the winning goal,” he said in support of his comments.

The next game between the two teams will take place on Friday. The Remparts will receive a visit from the Rimouski Océanic, while the Armada will visit Drummondville to face the Voltigeurs.
