Starting in January, the public can miss “Renascer.” In the retelling of Bruno Luperi, the grandson of Benedito Ruy Barbosa, the author of the original story, shown 30 years ago, the cocoa plantations serve as a backdrop for the saga of José Inocêncio, played by Antonio Fagundes in the first version and in the current one by Marcos Palmeira .

It will be Marcos’ return to soap operas after the remake of “Pantanal” (2022), a series in which he played another José, Leôncio. The similarities between “Renascer” and “Pantanal” go far beyond the same name of the protagonists and the setting in the interior of Brazil.
The heroes of both storylines owned a large property where they lived with their family. They also have neighbors of questionable character and children who become involved with rivals’ heirs. In the case of “Pantanal,” for example, Leôncio and Tenório (Murilo Benício) were enemies, and their heirs Guta (Julia Dalavia) and Tadeu (José Loreto) grew closer.
The story is similar to that of “Renascer”, in which Zé Inocêncio has Teodoro (Vladimir Brichta) as his tormentor and he is the father of Sandra (uncast actress), who gets involved with João Pedro (Juan Paiva).

The highlight of “Pantanal”: Maria Bruaca (Isabel Teixeira) was a submissive woman to her husband, even tolerating his betrayal. In Renascer, the same type can be seen in Dona Patroa (Camila Morgado), who suffers at the hands of her sexist husband Teodoro.
While in “Renascer” Mariana (Theresa Fonseca) seems to mysteriously develop her plan for revenge, Muda (Bella Campos) in “Pantanal” also had this intention. The Cramulhão enclosed in the bottle was discussed in detail in both “Pantanal” and “Renascer”.

While in “Pantanal” Juma (Alanis Guillen) captured the audience’s imagination by transforming into a jaguar, in “Renascer” the plots are more realistic and include scenes in major cities such as Ilhéus. Unlike the cattle and Tuiuius in the 2022 soap opera, audiences will be able to see scenes on cocoa plantations and characters treading on the fruit on Zé Inocêncio’s farm.
Another highlight in “Renascer” is the story of a priest who lives in conflict about his religious calling and ultimately falls in love with a woman. In the original version, the characters were played by Jackson Costa and Tereza Seiblitz. Now they are played by Breno da Matta and Alice Carvalho. In “Pantanal” there was no plot of this forbidden love, there was not even a priest among the permanent characters of the soap opera.
