The AP-7 and N-332 roads have already been reopened to traffic after they were closed for several hours due to the fire at the Altea (Alicante) exit on the border with Calp and 125 houses had to be evacuated. Currently, the tram line is still interrupted in the area, where up to 21 ground vehicles are in use, as reported by Emergencies 112 CV and the Provincial Firefighters Consortium.

Around midday, two aircraft were withdrawn, leaving only two operational units remaining. 21 firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Consortium, five forestry units from the Generalitat, six fire engines, two coordinators, an environmental officer, a fire protection unit and an ambulance from the SAMU continue to operate in the region.

As the Calp City Council announces, the fire in this municipal area has been extinguished and the people displaced from Maryvilla can return to their homes.

The administration has made a pavilion in Calp available to those affected by the eviction, although only three families remained at lunchtime, as the rest were able to manage their accommodation themselves. In the temporary shelter set up by the Red Cross in the sports center of this municipality, nine people were treated, one for smoke inhalation, but none seriously, and this assistance has already been stopped and the service has been suspended.

In the case of the tram, Generalitat Railway brigades are currently inspecting the route and a train without passengers has been given the opportunity to check its safety afterwards, although there is no time for traffic to resume.

The Regional Secretary for Security and Emergencies, Javier Montero, visited the Advanced Command Post (PMA) to obtain first-hand information on the extent and evolution of the fire, as did the President of the Provincial Council of Alicante, Toni Pérez.

In this sense, the President of the Provincial Society emphasized: “Although there are no longer any burning flames, we must be very careful because it is a day with a lot of wind, very changeable and with a lot of force, so all the precautions are few”, so the provincial council in a statement.

As a positive fact, the person in charge of Alicante has highlighted that so far “there is no regrettable damage to people or buildings in the area, apart from the surroundings of the urbanizations, including Altea Hills, which had to be evacuated with great effort.” Success this morning. “

In this context, Pérez hoped that the displaced people could return to their homes “as quickly as possible” and always guaranteeing safety, and that the fire could be extinguished.
