Cowboys Fringants fans will have another chance to sing and hug on Saturday. This time the meeting took place in Repentigny, where it all began for the Quebecers’ favorite group.
The city government invited admirers of Karl Tremblay and the Cowboys to meet at 2 p.m. at the Espace culturelle de Repentigny, three kilometers from the Motel Capri, made famous by a song by the group.
“Karl was a true source of local pride and his immense talent galvanized all of Quebec. Repentigny loses one of his fellow human beings and his voice will linger in our minds and hearts for a long time. Let us all help honor the unforgettable legacy he leaves behind in a space where love and gratitude for Karl’s life and work can be freely expressed.”
Repentigny also confirmed that an installation on its territory will bear the name of Karl Tremblay to honor his memory.
“Extreme friendliness”
The town of L’Assomption, where Karl Tremblay and his wife Marie-Annick Lépine have lived for 20 years, has already renamed its public space in honor of the late singer.
During a meeting held there on Thursday evening, Marie-Annick Lépine and Jean-François Pauzé took the stage to address the crowd.
“My husband, Karl Tremblay, our great Karl Tremblay, was a person of extreme kindness. He was someone who thought of others, who was always in a good mood. He was good to us, to his Cowboys family, to me, to his daughters, to his parents. “He had good relationships with everyone because he was an extraordinary person,” said the musician.
Bereaved Cowboys Fringants fans also gathered Thursday at Jeanne-Mance Park in Montreal and on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec.
