Replacement of La Place 0-5: A new access desk in 2024 –

The Family Ministry has announced that a new central access point for daycare centers will be set up over the next year.

This desk, which will replace La Place 0-5, will allow parents to know where their child is on the waiting list to obtain a place in a CPE.

Membership in the switch remains compulsory for early childhood centers (CPE), subsidized daycare centers (GS), unsubsidized daycare centers (GNS) and persons responsible for educational childcare in a family environment (RSGE).

According to the draft regulation published in the Official Journal, children are divided into five categories according to the same admission criteria for all.

-Category 1: Children of employees who already have a brother or sister in the daycare center;

-Category 2: Children of daycare staff;

-Category 3: Children whose brother or sister already attends daycare;

-Category 4: Children who do not have a place in daycare or who do not have a subsidized place in a facility, a CPE or a subsidized daycare center;

-Category 5: Children who already have a place in CPE or GS.

Parents also have access to detailed information about each childcare provider to help them make their choice. The information available includes, but is not limited to, the number of places available, the number of children on the waiting list and the accessibility of the facility for people with reduced mobility.

The Ministry of Family Affairs also specifies that in order to promote parents’ freedom of choice, there will no longer be any restrictions on the selection of childcare options.

The new access window is scheduled to be installed in 2024 after an analysis phase.

Recall that in March 2021, the personal data of thousands of parents registered at the La Place 0-5 one-stop shop were stolen due to a computer breach at the Enfance Famille Cooperative, which manages the system.
