For the first time in more than three years, Roman Reigns scored a clean pin at Saturday’s Money in the Bank live event.

The man responsible for this pin, Jey Uso, will reportedly be thrust into the spotlight as a result.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer (h/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com) reported that Reigns vs. Uso is one of six matches currently scheduled for next month’s SummerSlam card.

  • Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar
  • Trish Stratus vs. Becky Lynch
  • Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair
  • Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre
  • Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler

Meltzer also reported that Logan Paul will have an “in-ring showcase,” but it’s unclear who his opponent will be at the event.

The Reigns-Uso storyline has been building for years, with Uso becoming the “right hand man” of the tribal chief before a falling out between the cousins. The Usos defeated Reigns and Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank over the weekend, marking Reign’s first pinfall loss since December 2019.

Dubbed the “Bloodline Civil War” by WWE, the family struggle was a long time coming as Reigns’ abusive and increasingly paranoid behavior divided the most dominant faction in recent WWE history. First to leave was Sami Zayn, who faced Reigns at the Royal Rumble, resulting in Zayn and Kevin Owens defeating the Usos at WrestleMania and securing the undisputed tag team championships.

Losing to Zayn and Owens created tension between Reigns and the Usos, with the Bloodline attempting to regain tag team gold on numerous occasions, but failed. Jimmy Uso first tuned in to Reigns on Night of Champions in May, leading Jey to choose between his brother and cousin.

Last month, Jey finally sided with his brother to set up Saturday’s family fight that almost brought down the roof of the O2 Arena as the Usos claimed victory. It will be interesting to see if Jimmy Uso has any qualms about Jey being the one picked for a one-on-one match against Reigns when he went first against his cousin.

Elsewhere on the map, the feud between Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar will find its logical conclusion with a rubber match at WWE’s premier summer event. Rhodes signaled he is fully recovered after tearing the cast off his (kayfabe) broken arm, which he sustained through Lesnar during his match against Dominik Mysterio over the weekend.

Stratus and Lynch are also likely to end a month-long feud that dragged on in the women’s Money in the Bank ladder game. It’s possible – though not likely – that the game will be the last of Stratus’ storied career. The 47-year-old returned for a surprisingly long return in February, and it would make sense for her exit to coincide with the end of her feud with Lynch.

Baszler incited a feud with Rousey over the weekend by accusing her longtime friend of handing over the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. It’s almost certain that we’ll be hearing from Baszler on Raw or SmackDown this week, where she’ll explain her actions.

McIntyre also used MITB as a launch pad for his feud with GUNTHER, hitting a claymore on the Intercontinental Champion after he retained his title by defeating Matt Riddle.
