Report: Steelers sign CB Levi Wallace to a two-year deal

The moves continue to come fast and furious for the Pittsburgh Steelers and general manager Kevin Colbert.

In the latest move, the Steelers closed a minor role hole by adding veteran quarterback Levi Wallace to a two-year, $8 million deal, according to a report by NFL insider and analyst Jordan Schultz.

Wallace, a former undrafted free agent from Alabama in 2018, has played and started in 52 career games for the Buffalo Bills over the past four seasons, including all 17 games in 2021.

During that time, Wallace recorded 219 tackles, seven tackles for loss, six interceptions, and 30 passes defended.

Wallace’s signing likely signals the end of Akello Witherspoon’s tenure with Pittsburgh, especially with an average of $4 million a season in Wallace’s new contract.

Wallace scored 65.2 points last year, including 68.5 passes, according to Pro Football Focus. Whatever the case, last season Wallace recorded the lowest running defense score (51.7) since a record high in 2020.

The Steelers should be very familiar with Wallace after seeing him in person at Alabama Pro Day in 2018 watching the likes of Minka Fitzpatrick and Rashaan Evans, not to mention seeing him up close and personal at Reese’s Senior Bowl. 2018 in Mobile. Wallace also played against the Steelers for three straight seasons in Buffalo, including killing Ben Roethlisberger in Buffalo in 2020.
