Somewhere in southern Lebanon, Hamas flags fly over this village, the terrorist group’s stronghold. That evening, a procession of young people celebrated the death of one of their own, killed in an Israeli attack. His command tried to overcome the separation wall between Lebanon and Israel. His father is congratulated by local dignitaries.

“Palestine needs the blood of its martyrs,” the emotional old man continues. “And my son gave his.” The Israeli army confirmed on Tuesday, October 17, that it had killed four attackers during an infiltration attempt at the border. According to the IDF press release, the “terrorist unit” attempted to “plant an explosive device.”
Raised to hate Israel
Here, Palestinian refugees are raised to hate Israel, which forced their families into exile. Many are willing to die in battle, as this local Hamas official explains. “Whether a Palestinian is 5 or 100 years old, his duty is to fight and be ready to sacrifice his family and his life for the cause.”

This member of the terror group refuses to say how many Hamas fighters are present in Lebanon. “All I can tell you is that there are many of us and that Hamas is not alone. Everyone wants to put an end to Israeli terrorism.” While artillery fire and rocket fire from the Israeli army take place daily in the region, both Hamas and Hezbollah continue to threaten to open a new front in northern Israel. “Our Hezbollah allies will help us. But of course I can’t tell you yet what our strategy will be,” says the local leader. Israel has begun evacuating thousands of residents in 28 towns in the region.
