War between Hamas and Israel
Around thirty people gathered at the entrance to Jerusalem’s Old City on Tuesday to call for peace. Israelis and Palestinians stand side by side in solidarity: a gathering not seen since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7th.

This Tuesday, November 7th, only a few people were present at the rally organized in Jerusalem. Nevertheless, around thirty Palestinians and Israelis, as well as even more journalists, came together to deliver a strong message: a plea for peace. A first since the terrorist attack and the start of the war between Hamas and Israel a month ago.
For 15 minutes they sat in a circle in silence, side by side, with their eyes downcast, a few meters from the old town, which was lit up at the end of the day. Samer Sinijlaoui, a Palestinian, is president of the Jerusalem Development Fund. “We are here together, Palestinians and Israelis, Jews, Muslims and Christians, to mourn the deaths of innocent people. The anger is very great, but we are here to say that we must come together, feel everyone’s pain and try to work towards an end to this suffering. That’s the message!”
“Give everyone freedom”
Around him are primarily activists like Angela Godfrey-Goldstein, an Israeli whose eyes have been full of sadness since October 7th: “I have a friend who is one of the hostages.” She advocates the creation of a Palestinian state: “But on the other hand, 3,500 children will be killed… We must stop the occupation, we must give freedom to everyone and stop bombing many children.”
