A video of a dog doing something unusual to ease his anxiety has captured the hearts of all social media users.
When Carlee Dowsett from Canada shared a video of her dog Molly running on a treadmill to help her with her anxiety, users couldn’t help but melt how adorable Molly was.
The video, shared on Carlee’s TikTok, has received an overwhelming number of views as the dog mom revealed her pup often runs on the treadmill at night to “sleep more restfully”.
“Molly is a rescue dog and has a hard time with anxiety at night,” the video reads.

“Molly runs on her treadmill before bed to give herself a physical workout so she can get a more restful sleep,” she showed Molly using the treadmill.
The heartwarming video shows the fluffy pup running on the treadmill while her tongue sticks out and her ears droop.
Unfortunately, Molly isn’t the only dog to suffer from anxiety, as many rescue dogs commonly suffer from anxiety-like traits such as sensitivity to noise, fear of surfaces, fear of being alone, aggression, and compulsive behaviors.
And while users were shocked by the hack that calms Molly down, using treadmills in dogs is common among puppies suffering from anxiety, according to many different studies.
A study in Finland that looked at 13,715 dogs focused on dogs with anxiety-like traits and found that 72.5 percent of the dogs exhibited “some type of highly problematic behavior.”
The study, published in March 2020, found, “Sound sensitivity was the most common fear trait, with 32 percent of dogs being severely afraid of at least one sound.”
In addition to using the treadmill, music has also been shown to have a calming effect on pets.

A study in Animals Journal found that “classical music appears to have a calming effect on dogs in stressful environments.
“The use of music in the context of pets shows great potential as an effective and easy-to-implement therapeutic intervention with many positive benefits for animal health and welfare.”
Another study in Physiology & Behavior added that classical music can help relieve stress in rescue dogs.
The study found that auditory enrichment has a positive physiological effect on animals, particularly dogs that have spent time in shelters.
