This was shown by a study of more than 43,000 people in 26 countries Brazilian hear Music 24.9 hours per week, more than the world average of 20.7 hours per week.

The Engaging with Music 2023 report was produced by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the recorded music industry around the world. In Brazil, ProMúsica, an organization that brings together the country's main record labels and music producers, published an overview of the Brazilian scene.

The research found that the amount of time people spend listening to music per week has increased (20.1 hours in 2022). The growth this year meant an average of 13 additional threeminute songs per week this year.

Below are some conclusions from research in Brazil:

  • 82% of the population believe there are more ways to listen to music today than ever before;
  • On average, Brazilians use nine different methods to consume music;
  • On average, more than 10 music genres can be heard in Brazil (more than eight worldwide);
  • 83% of respondents say music is important for mental health (71% worldwide);
  • 47% of Brazilians still consume music in an illegal or unlicensed way (29% worldwide).

The data is based on field research conducted between August and October this year among internet users and music fans aged between 16 and 64.
