The Ukrainian leadership announced attacks on targets in Russia. “Russia attacked and killed civilians,” presidential adviser Mykhailo Podoliak wrote on Twitter on Thursday. “Ukraine will defend itself in every way possible, including attacks on Russian assassins’ camps and bases. The world recognizes this right.”

Podoliak referred to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who said Ukraine must decide for itself whether to attack military installations in Russia. The British government also showed understanding for such attacks. The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has also asked the United States for MQ-1C Gray Eagle combat drones, the ministry confirmed to online portal Politico.
Recently, there have been several reports of fires at Russian fuel depots near the Ukrainian border. It was unclear whether it was due to accidents, sabotage or Ukrainian attacks. A fire also broke out at a Russian military missile research institute in the city of Tver, northwest of Moscow. The Kiev government has not yet said whether it is responsible for the fires.
Podoliak praised the Bundestag’s approval of the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine. “The unity of the Bundestag is impressive,” tweeted Podoljak. “This vote will go down in history as one of the last nails in the coffin of Putin’s lobbying work in Europe and as the return of German leadership.”
