The restaurants of the Latin Quarter must not give up, even if the works continue to affect the flow of customers, confided a chef who “made the bet” to open a brasserie near the Saint-Denis theater.
“There’s going to be a bad time in this district in my opinion, but we’re looking at the long term. I’ve always believed in Montreal. It’s a city that takes time to get back on its feet, but once the projects are done, the Montrealers will be there,” said chef Antonin Mousseau-Rivard, owner of Mousso, in an interview with QUB. Radio.
He explains that the big works in a neighborhood very often come at the end of the smallest companies.
But based on the entertainment district and Rue Saint-Denis near Sherbrooke – the site of two major construction sites – the work zone will be “a very interesting place” when they’re finished, he predicted.
“It’s a big bet, it’s a neighborhood that — I wouldn’t say it has its worst days — but we’re more in the beautiful Latin Quarter that we used to have.[…] We took the risk of opening something in this neighborhood by telling ourselves that we believe in change in the years to come,” he added.
