Restaurateurs fear a power outage on Saturday night as their reservation books are full

The owner of the Côtes-à-Côtes restaurant in Lebourgneuf is dismayed by Hydro-Québec’s decision to cut power in his sector on Saturday night when his reservation book is full for his “biggest day of the week”. .

“I’m helpless, I can’t bear to call all my customers and give them 48 hours’ notice,” laments Nicolas Lavigne, discouraged over the phone.

Significant losses

Currently, 200 people have reservations at his restaurant on Saturday nights, equating to nearly $15,000 in sales, Mr. Lavigne points out. “It just doesn’t make sense!” he says.

Late Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Lavigne received a communication from Hydro-Québec saying that a power outage was planned at his restaurant at 1280 Boulevard Lebourgneuf from 7:00 p.m. Saturday night until 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

The restorer contacted the state company and asked for a postponement so that the work could only be carried out at night, but to no avail.

“I was even told that if the weather wasn’t good, the work would be postponed to the next day at the same time. So what should I do, cancel my whole weekend? It’s completely insane,” he said.

Also at Cochon Dingue

The shutdown is also planned at the Cochon Dingue restaurant, located a few meters away on the same side of the boulevard. Restos Plaisirs CEO Pierre Moreau, who also has a full reservation book for the evening, says he’s more optimistic but hopes to convince Hydro-Québec in time.

“It’s not the first time this has happened to us. There is usually a way to talk to them,” says Mr. Moreau.

According to Le Journal, Hydro-Québec has not yet answered our questions about this planned outage.
