The government of Venezuela and the opposition resume dialogue
The Norwegian embassy in Mexico confirmed the resumption of talks between the government of Venezuela and the opposition, represented by the so-called Unitary Platform. The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, reported that a second partial agreement to protect the population would be signed today as part of the talks in Mexico City. The resumption of the national dialogue process will be governed by the methodology set out in the MoU signed in August 2021 in Mexico with the support of the Kingdom of Norway. (TVV)

New appointments to the cabinet of ministers in Peru announced
The President of Peru, Pedro Castillo, announced that he would renew his cabinet of ministers after accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Aníbal Torres. The President’s decision came hours after the Congressional Bureau rejected Aníbal Torres’ motion of confidence. Pedro Castillo denounced Congressional opposition groups for insisting on motions to impeach the President. (Telesur)
Britain strikes for better working conditions
Workers at Britain’s state postal company, Royal Mail, and UK university professors mobilized on a day of strike to demand increases in wages and pensions and improvements in working conditions. Postal workers went on strike at the doors of post offices and parcel services, as well as outside the country’s universities and colleges. It is estimated that more than 100,000 sector workers supported the strike. The Union of Universities and Colleges announced that more than 70,000 university staff went on strike. (Telesur)
Police operation in Honduras due to increasing crime
The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, has declared a national security emergency in view of the increasing crime and extortion crimes in the Central American country. The President indicated that this state of emergency will serve to strengthen the immediate restoration of public spaces controlled by organized crime. He argued that extortion was the sinister result of the existence of organized crime in Honduras and was based in different parts of the country. The President commented that over the past 12 years, Honduras has been the victim of the state’s own imposition of a drug cartel. (Telesur)
