It’s time for Josh Bailey to retire.
The latter announced his decision in a text published on the Players’ Tribune website on Wednesday.
“There have been moments in the last few months that have made me take a break. I think what hit me the most was when I realized I had to close the chapter. All the things I experienced in the Islanders uniform are just memories. Even though it makes me emotional at times, I will carry it with me forever.”
The ninth overall pick in the 2008 draft played 15 seasons during his NHL career, all with the New York Islanders.
Bailey finished his career with a total of 184 goals and 580 points in 1,057 games.
He showed signs of slowing down last season, amassing just 25 points in 64 games.
The Islanders then decided to terminate his contract by selling him to the Chicago Blackhawks.
The latter preferred to buy out the pact rather than give him a place in the team.
