Reunion of the twins Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito hug

Reunion of the twins! Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito hug almost 40 YEARS after the legendary comedy: “I can't wait to work together again!”

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito kicked off 2024 with a twin reunion.

The Terminator actor shared a snapshot of himself hugging DeVito and DeVito's daughter Lucy DeVito on the set of their Broadway play on Instagram on Friday.

'My brother! “It was amazing seeing Danny in I Need That on Broadway,” Schwarzenegger captioned the sweet photo. “He and Lucy and everyone involved entertained the audience, laughing and loving every minute – one of the best plays I have ever seen, a true spectacle with heart!!”

Schwarzenegger and DeVito shared the screen in the 1988 film “Twins,” portraying genetically modified siblings whose paths only cross in adulthood. This was Schwarzenegger's first attempt at a comedic role and proved to be a huge success at the box office.

“I can’t wait to work together again,” the former California governor added in his social media post.

The legendary stars were involved in a long-in-the-works sequel to Twins called Triplets, in which the brothers would find out that they are actually triplets.

There have been reports suggesting that Eddie Murphy would be joining the cast of the sequel, and recently Tracy Morgan was rumored to be taking on the new role.

However, the project was put on hold after the original film's director, Ivan Reitman, passed away in February 2022 at the age of 75.

Ivan's son and Hollywood heavyweight director Jason Reitman was then pitched for the film, but according to Schwarzenegger, he was the one who gave it the red light.

“Jason Reitman literally stopped the project when his father died,” Schwarzenegger told The Hollywood Reporter in May.

“His dad really wanted to do it.” I really wanted to do it. “Danny DeVito really wanted to do it,” he continued.

“We had the financing. When his father died, Jason said, “I never liked the idea and held it back.”

Schwarzenegger mentioned that he is currently “working on another film with Danny” and continued, “He's a joy to work with and his talent is remarkable.”

During a November interview with GQ about his role in “I Need That,” DeVito jokingly suggested that Schwarzenegger “may have chosen Twins 2 instead of going into politics as governor.”

The True Lies veteran took a break from acting during his term as governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

Luckily, the two are still working on a project together, as Arnold told THR that he would instead “develop another film with Danny,” adding, “He's so much fun to work with and he's so talented.” .”
