Madini assumed he would be destabilized for Sunday’s unlikely duo phase at 6 p.m revolution, and that’s exactly what he experienced with Gabrielle Boudreau. The duo were tasked with creating an isolation-themed number, and it’s safe to say their work and talent paid off. They ended the evening with the top score.

The topic of isolation was initially interesting for both dancers. “We sat down and put forward our ideas based on the definition everyone gave for isolation,” Madini explained. I found it interesting to have the opportunity to develop in two different environments, each isolated in its own world, before meeting in the middle… and we used that to develop the sequel.
Gabrielle then brought up the idea of having sloping floors, something that had never been done on the show before. Madini says this act took him completely out of his usual comfort zone.

“At first I had difficulty finding my place there. I don’t come from the modern world at all and have no training for this style. That’s why it was difficult. Gabrielle is excellent but to be honest I couldn’t adapt. I tried new things and had to learn quickly. But I also surprised myself. I was able to take on this challenge and see it through to the end.”
Her revolution, in which Madini appears to walk on the back of a chair, was not as difficult as one might think for the 30-year-old dancer.

“I really didn’t expect to get it, but when I saw that the chair was sturdy, I decided to go for it. The more I did the revolution, the more I found the right position and I am very proud of the result.
