“Revolution”: Yelda has a hard time

Even though Yelda won her duel against Justine on Sunday evening, the dancer didn’t really appreciate this phase revolution.

Yelda Del Carmen, principal dancer in various companies in Cuba, had to start from scratch since settling in Quebec for love. But the process is not easy. “I don’t understand how the environment works here. It’s only been two years and two months since I arrived and it’s very different. Integration is not easy, we need time, it has to happen little by little. And it’s up to me to prove myself.”

However, she can count on the friendship and support of Yoherlandy, the winner of the third season of Revolution. “I knew him when we were in Cuba, he was the one who told me about the show. I was hesitant at first because I don’t know. I have danced in companies all my life, I have never competed or competed.”

The competitive aspect is also the feeling that Yelda is getting along more or less well. “Let’s say that the face-to-face stage is not my favorite stage, I didn’t like it. I didn’t enjoy the moment on stage because it was hard to face someone in front of me when we both want to succeed. Plus, Justine was incredible.”

Nevertheless, she hopes that taking part in the show will help her with her integration and her career. “Although I already have a dance career, I still need a permit to integrate in Quebec. Winning the personal game is like saying to me: welcome to our community, you have your place.”
