Reynoso after meeting Premier Otárola and authorizing League 1: "It came to fruition"

The coach of the Peru team highlighted the “opening of the government” to reach an agreement to start the 1st division in 2023.

After a few weeks of uncertainty and amid the broadcast rights controversy, the government decided to give the green light for the start of the 1st division in 2023. This decision was taken after a meeting with Prime Minister Alberto Otárola Juan Reinoso (Coach of the Peru national team) and Agustín Lozano (President of the Peruvian Football Federation), in which it was agreed to start the championship without spectators in the stands.

After granting the approval, the coach emphasized the board’s willingness to engage in dialogue and looked forward to the start of the championship.

“This government’s openness to listen and understand the truth has been good (…) It’s a concern we’ve all had, not just the players, the coaching staff, the press in general and well it’s come to fruition and hopefully we will focus this news on better scenarios,” he said.

Likewise, the strategist provided details on the conversation they had with the head of the PCM and how the disruption of the competition has hurt the Blanquirroja.

“One of the points raised was how not playing can affect us,” said the strategist. He added that without games, minutes are lost and that way they don’t achieve what they had envisioned for their preparation.
