RHONJ’s Dolores Catania is sparking backlash after revealing she uses Ozempic for weight loss

Dolores Catania has admitted to using Ozempic to lose weight for the past six weeks to ensure she looks her best for the upcoming Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion.

During her appearance on Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live, the 52-year-old reality star revealed that she has been taking the type 2 diabetes medication to lose weight.

“I didn’t want to come to the reunion and look taller than everyone else, so I got on the bandwagon,” she explained to Andy Cohen.

When asked if she experienced any side effects from the host, 54, the mother-of-two said only that she was “not hungry”.

The TV personality then clarified that she was “actually.” [taking] Mounjaro”, a drug very similar to Ozempic.

Marysol Patton, sitting next to Catania, then marveled at how Mounjaro has become the “fast forward” button “to Skinnyville”.

“See you in two weeks. i have a trainer [as well]’ said Catania.

After the episode aired, viewers flocked to social media to label Catania’s latest interview “unhealthy and triggering.”

“Dolores saying it’s #Ozempic took me so proud lol smh [shaking my head]’ wrote one Twitter user.

Another asked: “Wait, isn’t there a shortage of Ozempic for diabetics? And Dolores only casually admitted that she’s coming along with a big smile on her face?

A third noted that it “kind of screwed up that Dolores and the rest of the #RHONJ cast” “jumped on the Ozempic bandwagon as quickly as fellow cast member Jackie [Goldschneider] recovering from an eating disorder.’

Other reactions from Twitter users who exclaimed: “OMG. Dolores is also on Ozempic. That’s crazy!’

However, some applauded her “for being so honest”.

In 2019, she lost 25 pounds by reducing how often she ate at restaurants, eliminating certain foods from her diet, and generally being stricter about what she ate.

“People around me that I know have lost weight,” the Bravo star told Life & Style, before revealing that her co-star Teresa Giudice’s daughter, Milania, inspired her to get in shape.

She continued: “Actually two young girls – my niece Sarah and Milania Giudice. She’s lost so much weight and she’s still losing weight.’

“I got heavier — I gain and lose weight, I had to stop,” she added.

To lose weight and get healthier, she decided to enroll in a 45-day diet program at Elite Health Center in New Jersey.

The plan saw her make drastic changes to her daily diet, including cutting out “all sugar, all carbs” and oil.

Dolores added that her ex-husband, Frank Catania, who she has been close friends with since the couple’s divorce more than 20 years ago, also didn’t believe how seriously she would take the diet.

“Everyone was laughing at me, making fun of me,” the star added.

Describing the diet she had adopted, Dolores said she was only allowed to eat 750 calories a day.

And while she was determined to fit exercise into her weight loss plan, her busy schedule got in the way.

She said: “I was really, really motivated, I really wanted to do it. Unfortunately, I was so busy that I couldn’t come to training. If I had exercised while on this diet, I probably would have lost another six or seven pounds.”

The reality TV star said that while the diet plan has been effective for her, it’s not for everyone.

“It’s not for someone who doesn’t feel obligated. I didn’t want to spend my summer with the weight I gained over the winter,” she said.

Dolores added that she “needs” to complete the diet program to achieve her “summer figure.”

“Weight doesn’t come off that easily with age, it just doesn’t. When we were younger we could lose it quickly.

“I knew this was the right diet for me to start summer and lose the weight I needed within a month or so,” she said.
