The Season 4 finale of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City solved a season-long mystery.
Since the opening episode of the fourth season of the Bravo reality series, a shocking twist was announced that would change the group's dynamic forever.
It was about Heather Gay finding out something bad about one of her cast members and discovering the truth about her black eye, with viewers finally being given some clarity about the episode that aired on Tuesday, January 2nd.
Gay was caught on a hot mic talking to a mysterious caller who shared important news. Producers tried to capture the moment she entered her bedroom in Bermuda, but Gay told her to leave.
Moments later, Gay arranged a meeting with the remaining OG cast members, including Lisa Barlow, Whitney Rose and Meredith Marks.
“We have come a long way as four and Monica [Garcia] is not who she says she is,” Gay told the group. “She is not our friend. She is someone who planned and worked to infiltrate our friend group. And the name you all know her by, the woman whose birthday we celebrated, who we stand up for, who we want to support and defend, is Reality Von Tease.”
It turns out that Reality Von Tease is an Instagram account that reveals many of the RHOSLC cast's secrets. The account posted videos exposing Jen Shah, the housewife who is in prison for her involvement in a telemarketing scheme.
Gay said she knew Garcia through her hairstylist, Tenesha, who eventually revealed that Garcia had leaked information to Reality Von Tease. Gay seemed to have become suspicious of Garcia because of her filming of RHOSLC and how she handled private information and revealed sensitive details on camera. At one point, Garcia even joked on the show that she would be able to run a social media account to reveal her fellow actresses' secrets.
Garcia was eventually confronted by Gay and the rest of the cast at dinner in Bermuda.
“You are an internet troll. You are a cyberbully. They’ve been tweeting and undermining and bullying us all for four years,” Gay told Garcia.
Garcia initially denied involvement, saying, “This is bullshit. This was never my damn account.”
When Gay insisted that Garcia was Reality Von Tease, Garcia admitted, “That's not entirely true.” When her fellow housewives asked for clarification “totally,” Garcia added, “That means it's partially true.”
“Von Tease was never just one person,” Garcia said during a confessional for the show. “It wasn't just me. There were several other people involved, but the bottom line was that our mission was to defeat Jen, the others were just collateral damage.”
Later, Gay Garcia said her behavior “seemed oddly familiar” and told Shah, who gave her the infamous black eye from the previous season. Gay didn't want to talk about her black eye and it had remained a mystery until now.
“I ate every day [Shah]. I felt like I had to lie to protect her,” Gay said of defending Shah. “I went on book tours and defended her and was upset that she gave me a black eye.”
The Season 4 finale of RHOSLC set up the show's reunion and was touted as the first time the entire cast would discuss the events in Bermuda. In the trailer for the episode “Reunion Part 1,” airing Tuesday, January 9 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo, Gay is asked how she got her black eye.
Shah's Instagram account was updated to defend the former RHOSLC star against the allegations made against her on the show.
“Bravo, if I punched Heather in the eye you would have footage to prove it,” the statement read. “It is clear that the series cannot live without me, as I grew up at the beginning, middle and end of season four. Andy [Cohen] It still hurts me that I turned down his 1:1 interview. Why sit down with someone who “gave” another performer a black eye? Next story.”
