The mystery could be solved.
“Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Heather Gay claimed on Tuesday's Season 4 finale that Jen Shah gave her the mysterious black eye she woke up with after a wild night of partying in Season 3.
She made the revelation while confronting newcomer Monica Garcia over her behavior and her alleged involvement with the Instagram account Reality Von (Tea)se, which targets members of the show – particularly Shah.
“I don't think you understand anything about this group,” she told Garcia as Lisa Barlow, Meredith Marks and Whitney Rose watched the drama.
“Listen to me: there’s something you missed. We're friends and we've been through this shit before with Jen. We were afraid for years.”

She continued: “We would wake up upset to see a lie being spread, exposed and exploited, but we were there for it.”

“And we're the ride-or-die type of girls, and each of us has ridden hard at different times and we've pushed through feelings of doubt and things that didn't add up.”

“And the pain we went through and the way we were tormented and tortured? I ate shit for her every day,” Gay recalls.
“I felt like I had to lie to protect her. I did what was necessary. I went on a book tour and defended her and was ashamed that she gave me a black eye.”
Marks and Barlow, clearly shocked by Gay's revelation, then audibly gasped.
Garcia, however, seemed unfazed.
She also claimed Andy Cohen was “butt hurt” because she turned down his request for a one-on-one interview.
“I'm glad you finally told the truth. So good for you,” she joked before leaving the meeting at Gay’s request.
Although Shah was incarcerated at the Bryan Federal Prison Camp in Texas for her involvement in a telemarketing fraud scheme, she was quick to deny Gay's accusation on her Instagram Story.
“Bravo, if I punched Heather in the eye you would have footage to prove it,” the 50-year-old reality star wrote.

“It's clear that the show can't live without me, as I grew up at the beginning, middle and end of season four.”
She further claimed that Bravo executive producer and host Andy Cohen is “still hurt in the butt” and that she declined his request for a one-on-one interview with her.
“Why sit down with someone who gave another performer a black eye?” Shah argued. “Next story.”

A representative for Shah confirmed to Page Six that she had indeed shared the statement on her Instagram and claimed that Shed Media, a division of Warner Bros. Unscripted & Alternative Television, was “retaliating” against her for doing the interview last year with Cohen had rejected.
Gay, 49, previously claimed she had no idea how she got the black eye, which was so bad she couldn't open it.
However, her story about the injury has changed several times since she first showed it to Shah and Marks, 52, after a night out in San Diego.
Although she initially claimed she had no idea how she came across the shiner, she later told Rose, 37, that she was waiting for the perpetrator to come forward.

“I think we all know what happened, I just think we don't want to talk about it,” she said.
However, during the Season 3 reunion, she reiterated that she knew nothing.
“I do not know what happened. … All I can talk about is that I went to my room, passed out, and woke up with a black eye,” she recalls.
