Richard Madeley has blasted Prince Harry after he denied accusing the royal family of racism.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Monday, the 66-year-old TV presenter slammed the Duke for not correcting the shocking claim – adding he “doesn’t buy the recast”.
This comes after Prince Harry denied calling the royal family racists in his bombshell interview with Tom Bradby on Sunday night, despite Meghan’s claims that an unnamed royal had raised “concerns” about son Archie’s skin colour.

Richard said: “If we misunderstood it and it was the world’s cover story, why didn’t they correct it?
“Why didn’t Harry or Meghan say at some point on one of their podcasts or one of the opportunities they had and say, ‘By the way, we didn’t mean it the way you guys took it, we were. I do not accuse the family of racism.”
‘Why didn’t they correct it the day after it came out?’
Co-host Susanna Reid then interjected: “He blames the press for saying it’s racism. He says they never said it was racism.
Controversial: This comes after Prince Harry denied calling the royal family a racist in an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby (pictured) on Sunday night.
“There was a clarification that was issued after that Oprah interview because Oprah herself told CBS the day after it came out that the allegation was not directed at the Queen or the Duke of Edinburgh.”
Referring to the Duke’s recent claims, Richard added: “Sorry, I don’t buy this rewrite of the interview, there was at least a clear implication that there was a racist element to the skin color of the upcoming baby.
“It was never corrected, it was corrected last night but two and a half three years late. You can’t have both, Harry, I’m sorry.’
In 2021, Harry and Meghan’s telltale interview with Oprah Winfrey was one that shocked the world.
Angry: Richard said: ‘If we got it wrong and it was the world’s cover story, why didn’t they correct it?’
One moment that has stuck in people’s minds over the years was when Oprah asked Meghan in 2021, “You were worried that if he was too tan there would be a problem? Do you say that?’.
Meghan replied at the time: “If that’s the assumption you’re making, I think that feels pretty safe, which was really hard to understand, right?”
It sparked a worldwide guessing game about the senior royal who said it, and hours later Harry’s estranged brother, Prince William, was forced to publicly remark that they were “very much not a racist family”.
The Queen also issued a rare statement, saying “the issues raised, particularly those of race, are worrying” but stressed that “memories may vary”.
But on Sunday night, in an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby, he said the royal family is not racist.
Confusion: Addressing the 2021 Oprah interview, Bradby, a friend of Harry’s, said: “You have accused members of your family of racism.”
Mr Bradby – like millions of viewers – was visibly stunned by his shrieking about-face from previous arson charges.
Addressing the 2021 Oprah interview, the British broadcaster, a friend of Harry’s, said: “You have accused members of your family of racism.”
But Harry snapped back, “No, I didn’t. That’s what the British press said. Has Meghan ever mentioned that you are racist?’.
Harry then insisted the comments about his son Archie’s skin color were “unconscious bias”. Mr Bradby seemed surprised by the answer – while experts said Harry clearly didn’t understand the term he was now using.
Harry, who is promoting his autobiography Spare, claims: “There were – there were concerns about the color of his skin.”
He was then asked, “Wouldn’t you call that essentially racist?”

But the 38-year-old replied: “I wouldn’t do that as I wouldn’t have lived in that family.”
Harry and Meghan’s “tell-all” call with Oprah in 2021 was their first major interview since stepping down as senior members of the royal family in 2020.
Speaking on the couple’s Netflix series Harry & Meghan, the Duke claimed: “In this family, sometimes you’re part of the problem rather than part of the solution. There is a tremendous amount of unconscious bias.
“The thing about the unconscious bias, that’s really nobody’s fault. But once it’s been pointed out or identified within yourself, you have to do it right. It’s education. It’s consciousness. It is constant work for everyone, including me.”
Harry told Netflix: “In [the Royal Family], sometimes you are part of the problem rather than part of the solution. There is a huge amount of unconscious bias.
