Richard Sackler sells third luxury home for $20m as lawsuits plague Purdue Pharma

Billionaire and former Purdue Pharma president Richard Sackler is set to sell a third luxury property after the company was hit by a spate of lawsuits over the opioid crisis.

Sackler, 77, has put his Beverly Hills mansion on the market for just under $20 million. The Angelo View Drive home is a three story, four bed, six bath home with incredible views of the hills.

It is the third product he has launched as Purdue Pharma continues to be blamed for starting the US opioid crisis. The family, who are estimated to be worth up to $15 billion, have denied any wrongdoing.

Sackler also sold his home on Cicero Lane in Austin, Texas in 2018 for more than $3 million and a mansion on Princeton Place in Boca Raton, Florida in 2022 for $4.88 million.

The sale of the Florida home came shortly after Purdue Pharma reached a $6 billion multi-state settlement over the opioid crisis after more than 1 million Americans have died from drug overdoses since 1999, according to the New York Post.

At the time of the settlement, the powerful family said they sincerely regretted that their pain reliever, OxyContin, “unexpectedly became part of an opioid crisis.”

Richard currently resides in another home in Boca Raton that he purchased in June 2021 for $1.71 million.

Sackler’s Beverly Hills mansion is currently on the market for $19,995,000

The Spanish-style home – located on Princeton Place – features an arched entrance and two large trees in front of the home for ultimate privacy.

Serenity seems to be the home’s mainstay, as many lime green trees and plants are scattered around the home and grounds, complementing the off-white exterior and soft lighting.

Each room in the 8 bed, 9.5 bath home has its own unique shape, with most deviating from the standard square or rectangular shapes.

The living room has a large arched floor-to-ceiling window and two other small windows near the ceiling. The room is decorated with artwork and a chandelier.

The kitchen has a similar style to the living room with light gray walls and lots of natural light. It also offers ample prep space, lots of cabinets and plenty of room to move around freely. The oven is in the middle of the almost circular room, with an extractor hood hanging above it. Additional oven space is located on the back wall and the refrigerator is hidden behind cabinet doors.

Other parts of the house are outfitted in dark wood and exude a more serious vibe, such as one of the study rooms with dark red furniture and dark accessories.
