Justin Roiland, co-creator and lead actor of the hit animated series Rick and Morty, has been charged with domestic violence in connection with a 2020 incident.
Roiland, 42, appeared Thursday in an Orange County, California court in connection with the case after previously pleading not guilty to assault and false imprisonment on domestic battery offenses.
The criminal charges filed for the first time in May 2020 had not been made public. NBC News first reported the allegations, citing a copy of the criminal complaint.
