The loading bar percentage continues to increase, with fans trying to figure out what a confusing game the Riddler might have been playing. It is clear that there will be some kind of continuation of “Batman”. This big clue could be the moment that shows what form this can all take.
Comicbook.com had the opportunity to speak with Paul Dano about his role in the new superhero thriller. The villain actor shared some thoughts on the connection between The Riddler and Robert Pattinson’s character that cuts to the core of their interactions during the film. “Rob [Pattinson] and that costume and the image of Batman had a special place on my wall for most of that shoot,” Dano said. Bruce Wayne had a very different feeling. So, from my point of view, it’s a pretty, pretty big difference.”

Pattinson echoed those thoughts and said he approached it from a different angle. One could argue that his depiction of Bruce Wayne as completely separate from Batman also plays a role in this. The mentality of the two men really comes through in the climax. Dano went on to praise Matt Reeves for allowing him to step in and help form the Riddler during Batman’s creative process.
“Well, Matt Reeves and I originally talked about the hero and the villain and the two sides of trauma,” Dano suggested, before returning to the qualities that make the villain such a good backdrop for The Dark Knight. “Because Batman was born from the trauma of his parents death and he still struggles with it, especially in this movie, I think. I think that’s how you can find your way. Then, unfortunately, it goes where it goes.”
