In the 19/20 Info on Monday, November 13, journalist Nicolas Carvalho returns to a viral video in which a woman explains that a hospital in Gaza is controlled by Hamas.
In a video, a woman posing as a nurse at al-Chifa hospital in Gaza films herself to denounce Hamas’ crimes. “They control the entire hospital, they take the gas and the medicine,” she said. In just a few hours, this statement was viewed 12 million times. In Gaza, the situation around several hospitals is extremely tense. The one in al-Chifa had reportedly been without electricity or water for three days. This video was originally shared by pro-Israel accounts, including official accounts of the Jewish state. It’s impossible to know where the video was filmed.
The authenticity of the video cannot be proven
“Communication with Al Chifa Hospital is very difficult at the moment,” explains Nicolas Carvalho, journalist of True or False Cell, present on the set of 19/20 Info, Monday November 13th. An American journalist managed to contact several Gazan doctors working at the hospital who claimed they had never seen this woman. The accounts that shared this video have in turn deleted it. If it cannot be said whether the video is staged, “we cannot check all the elements to ensure that this video is authentic,” the journalist concludes.
